Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Wells Environmental Advisor, based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:
* Provide expert environmental support and guidance on environmental permit, consent and notification requirements.
* Delivery full suite of environmental expertise, support, guidance and coaching to the Wells team regarding all aspects of environmental management and regulatory compliance. Ensuring priority is given to license to operate issues.
* Works closely with the Wells UK HSE Lead to contribute to environmental regulatory inspections/mandatory investigation preparation and co-ordination, and interface with OPRED teams.
* Provide expert environmental support and guidance directly to Wells Detailed Design and Operations teams as required.
* Coordinate the delivery of the required environmental reporting to the regulator and ensure planning and resourcing is adequate to deliver the necessary reports on time.
* Ensure look ahead regarding submission timelines for Permits is maintained and forecasting where external support is required.
* Complete and submit small amendments to Permits via OPRED portal/SEPA process, taking an end-to-end overview of permit/consents status and accuracy.
* Supports Wells team regarding risk assessment activities for all environmental aspects
* Support Wells teams with environmental hazard identification, risk evaluation, prioritising risk and advising on pragmatic and credible risk management solutions and controls
* Communicate to facility teams permit conditions, completing awareness session and frontline team engagement when required.
* Act as a focal point for some environmental procedures and legislation in WESTONs, ensuring periodic update when required, taking a minimal maintenance approach.
* Coach compliance with regarding to reporting of events to OPRED, ensuring reviews against OPRED expected standards and PMR requirements. Review and advise on risk regarding events and non-compliances reported to OPRED
* Proactively promotes learning regarding incidents and regulatory feedback.
* Provide guidance and support for implementation of environmental elements of the HSSE Control Framework requirements.
* Ensure the requirements of the HSSE&SP Control Framework and relevant UK regulations are implemented and that compliance can be demonstrated. Work with operational functions both onshore and offshore to assist in assuring compliance through the implementation of risk controls for managing environmental performance,
* Participate in environmental audits and inspections.
* Supports delivery of audit plan as required, including completion of Environmental LOD1 and LOD2 activities.
* Review LOD1 and LOD2 findings and track actions assigned to address gaps and improvements to closure.
* Supports delivery of incident investigations, ensuring compliance with the UK Incident and Accident Investigation Procedure.
* Where required, support causal investigations and application of causal reasoning in a practical manner, being mindful of timely completion.
* Support ISO14001 certification audits, working closely with the Regulatory Governance Team
* Interfaces with TAO regarding all Environmental performance information, utiltising digital tools and dashboards wherever possible.

Experience & Qualifications:
* Deep knowledge of Environmental Management in Oil & Gas Operations (Required)
* Experience working under the mature UK offshore environmental legislative framework (Required)
* Degree qualified with a Postgraduate and/or Professional qualification with environmental link or with considerable line experience and qualifications
* Knowledge of Wells Operations from Exploration through to P&A (Preferred)
* Investigation experience (Preferred)
* Experience with PLANC register (Preferred)
* Experience with Well Notifications, WONS and CONS submissions (Preferred)
