Warehouse Manager, Dalkeith, £35,000 to £40,000

Our client, a leading manufacturing company with a fantastic order book for work are looking to hire an experienced Warehouse Manager for their site in mid-lothian.

Key tasks

  • liaising with internal departments, suppliers and transport companies to ensure efficient on time delivery;

  • must adapt operations in order to comply with different customer vendor compliance and logistic programs

  • planning for seasonal peaks (ie operation layout, resource, efficient/fast stock retrieval);

  • planning, coordinating and monitoring the receipt, product order assembly and dispatch of goods;

  • using space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently and making sure quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met;

  • having a clear understanding of the company's expected service levels and ensure KPI's are met and exceeded;

  • ensuring efficient use of Vantage system where necessary;

  • keeping stock control systems up to date and making sure inventories are accurate;

  • planning future capacity requirements;

  • organising the recruitment and training of staff, as well as monitoring staff performance and progress;

  • motivating, organising and encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded;

  • producing regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis;

  • briefing team leaders on a daily basis;

  • monitor and report on the quality of service customers are receiving;


  • Experienced and knowledgeable in staff supervision and management

  • Be able to demonstrate skills in warehouse inventory management systems, export procedures, production management controls.


  • ability to perform under pressure - due to the seasonal demands, candidate must be able to perform under pressure. Particularly when new products are being launched.

  • adapt to change rapidly - the candidate must be able to adapt to unforeseen events and urgent requests which may require immediate attention

  • ability to present to all levels in a clear and concise format appropriate to target audience, provide management information and reporting of KPI's

  • logistics/Warehouse management - minimum of 3 years hands on operation experience - essential

  • Continuous Improvement strategy experience
  • ERP - working knowledge of ERP systems , sales order processing systems- essential

This role is commutable from Dalkeith, Musselburgh, Wallyford, Penicuik, Dunbar, North Berwick, Leith, Edinburgh, Gorebridge, Balerno, Livingston, Queensferry, Prestonpans.
