My global 3PL company is looking to hire a First Line Manager, reporting into the Transport Manager. You will be responsible for full compliance of agreed KPI's, ensuring that service level agreements are met at all times and that Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to. Additionally you will ensure full compliance of Health and Safety, Transport Legislation and on-site training of Teammates.

Key Responsibilities include;

  • Day to day management of Depot and Outbase depots with a focus on Quality and Compliance.
  • Monitoring KPI data, identifying trends with a view to improving efficiencies and achieving continuous improvement targets.
  • Quality procedures and documentation are kept in line with Company expectations at all times, this is to include audits and re-training of Teammates.
  • Investigate client complaints and when required, complete deviation reports in a timely manner.
  • Ability to present comprehensive and robust information in a timely fashion when required, daily, weekly and monthly.
  • Liaise with other Depots or departments within the Company network to ensure operations are satisfactorily completed and also promoting good working relationships to maximise performance.
  • Responsible for Health and Safety of the team, ensuring safe working practices are adhered to at all times e.g. accidents, investigations, risk assessments, audits, daily checks and regular Health and Safety meetings.
  • Manage driver behaviour through the use of Verilocation and address concerns with Teammates within Company guidelines.
  • Ongoing Teammate management; Appraisals, setting objectives, regular reviews, identifying training needs, coaching and developing teammates where appropriate.
  • Manage all HR and Payroll related activities e.g. holidays, sickness absence, investigations, disciplinaries and wages.
  • Monitor drivers hours and ensure Tachograph records are maintained and meeting the legal requirements.
  • Ensure driver brief and debrief is completed to Company quality requirements.
  • Maintenance of systems including TMS, Fleet Check and Kronos.
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance schedules are implemented, strictly adhered to and vehicles are presented when scheduled or requested.
  • Action computerised vehicle scheduling to ensure optimum effectiveness and completion of customer requirements and service levels, when required.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Deal with customers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • In addition to your normal duties you may be required to undertake other duties in line with the needs of the business and flexibility should be recognised as a prerequisite of the role and be prepared to vary start times and shift patterns to meet business needs.

  • Previous traffic office/warehouse practical experience
  • Leadership and man-management experience and skills
  • Articulate, numerate and computer literate including the use of Microsoft packages
  • Good geographical knowledge both locally and nationally
  • Flexible in approach and able to work a rotating shift pattern where required
  • CPC or knowledge of transport legislation
