Thermal Insulation and Cladding Installation Engineer

Initially 4-6 weeks duration, possibly longer

Location - client based Fife, must be willing to travel. Most of projects central Scotland but may be required to work away from home.

Hours of work - 39 per week over 4 days + overtime

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing and applying a wide range of insulation materials to pipework and ventilation systems. Examples of materials but not limited to are Rockwool, Calcium silicate, Super wool, and Armaflex.
  • Manufacturing and applying a variety of cladding finishes to pipework and ventilation systems, the ability to fabricate cladding from materials such as Aluminium, Stucco aluminium, Alu-zinc, and stainless steel. Thickness ranges from 0.7 - 1mm Thick.
  • Able to use the machinery to enable the fabrication of cladding this will include but is not limited to Plate rollers, Nibbler machines, Guillotines, and folding machines.
  • Applying heat tracing tape to pipework for both frost protection and heat conservation. This does not include making any electrical connections.
  • Liaising with site teams to understand the requirements for specific sites and ensuring that the work is completed in accordance with the site specifications.
  • Liaising with in-house engineers to enable procurement of the required materials.

Experience and qualifications:

  • SVQ or equivalent or 10 years' experience in Thermal insulation and cladding manufacturing and installation
  • Must have a good workshop and site health and safety awareness and be able to follow any site-specific protocols.
  • Ability to adapt to site specific environments, for example, working at height
  • Ability to work alone or collaborate as a team.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills are vital to this role.
  • Must have a current driving license.
