I am currently recruiting for a Technical Manager with new build Housing experience to work with a major Housing Contractor based in Inverness.


Preparation of viability layouts either directly in-house or management of external Architects.
Manage Planning Process, Building Warrant, Community Consultation and other aspects associated with obtaining a Planning Consent.
Management of External Engineering practices for preparation of viability studies, Desktop Reports and commissioning of Site Investigations and other pertinent reports.
To obtain and collate all pre-start information for internal issue prior to site start as noted on Engineering Summary.
Liaise with Commercial Department and assist with initial upload to internal document management system and thereafter maintain Engineering Section with current drawings.
Prepare site compound and sales centre levels and setting out plans to be included within relevant technical packs.
Procurement of existing service records.
Procurement of proposed services for development including water, gas, electricity and comms.
Register new sites with energy provider including obtaining MPAN & MPRN information from utility infrastructure company.
Provide plot levels plans for use by sales as part of plot reservation procedure.
Obtain Road Bonds.
Assisting in the CDM in line with current regulations.
Liaise with site & sales operatives to provide information as necessary including preparation of specific drawings where necessary.
Liaise with regulatory authorities including Local Council and Scottish Water during construction period, addressing and resolving any issues arising & obtaining relevant approval.
Drive statutory consents process to a site start in line with Key Date Schedule.
Liaise with Consultant Engineers where issues arise with information or unexpected site conditions are experienced; resolve issuing updated information to all parties for action.
Uploading all engineering information to the NHBC extranet and discharging conditions to allow plots to obtain CML in line with plot hand-over dates. This includes obtaining environmental validation reports from relevant engineer.
Attend Monthly Site and Service Infrastructure project meetings and action arising points.
Where site remixes are issued provide all information to external bodies to update design information.
To provide the Engineering Manager with regular progress and reports on individual sites and advise of any issues that may require further investigation or attention.
Carry out all reasonable actions to assist Technical Department in the smooth and profitable running of the company.
Identify potential design improvements during the construction period of the development.
Adoption of roads, drainage, water and BT infrastructure at end of development.


The candidate is expected to have extensive direct house building experience or experience within a consultancy / private practice. Experience in design utilising AutoCAD, PDS and WinDES is essential as is HND or degree in an associated discipline.
They are expected to be able to manage workload and prioritise either within a team environment or working alone ensuring that at all times an organised structure is applied and dates are met.
It is envisaged that time will be mainly spent in Inverness, however there may be an occasional requirement to work in other offices and so a willingness to be away from home is also required.
