The Role

Based just outside Glasgow and situated in the Controls Department of our heavy manufacturing client, the main purpose of this role is to undertake installation & commissioning, service and support work, mainly on-site for customers and to ensure the metering control systems operate as designed and with zero defects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Undertake site commissioning, ad hoc services and annual health checks on client metering computer control systems
  • Helpdesk support call handling and resolution
  • Undertake site survey visits to support sales activities
  • Ensure successful delivery within budget of assigned service activities
  • Provide quality assurance and peer review for projects and service activities
  • To set up test and/or simulation systems to assist in solving customer support calls and/or training courses
  • To answer customer support calls, and log them on the support database
  • To add knowledgebase articles on common support/service issues
  • To provide in-house support on internal and factory-acceptance testing of client systems
  • To develop the ability to make minor changes to systems to assist in commissioning & service activities
  • To undertake client training sessions (developing courses and delivering them)
  • Ensure that quality records are generated and maintained
  • Duty phone roster for out of hours support
  • Assist with development of service team capabilities

Skills & Experience

  • First/second line trouble shooting/helpdesk support experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with flow measurement control and computer systems
  • Experience of control panel wiring
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
  • High level of numeracy and IT skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Can work on own initiative
  • Solutions driven
  • Excellent interpersonal skills essential
  • Good organiser and motivator
  • Team player, with ability to see tasks through to completion
