Our client is a leading, global manufacturer with locations worldwide.

The Role

Reporting into the Finance Director the Supply Chain Manager will lead the day to day activities of the supply chain department with focus on timely issuing of orders, cost saving, continous improvement and team management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Co-ordinating the purchasing team to minimise delays in the procurement process
  • Manage team on daily basis including Absence, Annual Leave, Appraisals, Development, Performance Management and Training
  • Compliance to financial audit requirements
  • Manage and continuously review the Purchase Order System to ensure it is accurate, up to date and consistently meets business requirements and, is in line with the needs of auditing requirements
  • Oversee and purchase materials in line with inventory targets
  • Provide timely and effective communication of forecasts (where applicable) and purchase orders to suppliers
  • Implement and review processes to ensure best practice and consistency across the team
  • Liaise with internal departments and suppliers
  • Continually review the overall "value" offered by existing suppliers
  • Ensure that the Company's purchasing remains globally competitive
  • Re-negotiate terms of business, service agreements, contracts and performance evaluation with suppliers, taking corrective action as required
  • Review invoice queries as required and investigate ways in which to reduce such queries/errors
  • Management of Key Performance Indicators

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience of working in a busy Purchasing Department, ideally with international customers
  • Experience of Contract renewals and tender processes
  • Experience of leading colleagues
  • Managerial experience of day to day activities such as Manage team on daily basis including Absence, Annual Leave, Appraisals, Development, Performance Management and Training
  • An excellent understanding of efficient materials flow and best practice
  • Experience in dealing with global suppliers
  • A strong track record of negotiating procurement/buying terms
  • Experience of continuous improvement and process reviews
  • High levels of computer literacy in particular Excel
  • ERP systems experience
  • Strong data management skills
