Specialist, Operational Risk Management IV

The Specialist, Operational Risk Management is responsible for the implementation and oversight of strategies and practices associated with Operational Risk (health and safety, environment, reliability, etc.) in Canada and the United States.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Providing Operational Risk Management expertise to the organization from both a technical perspective and a process governance perspective.
  • Holding technical expertise in Operational Risk Management tools, techniques, and processes with specific knowledge of operations in the oil and gas sector.
  • Consistent application and documentation of Operational Risk Management processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Facilitation of stakeholder discussions and workshops regarding risk identification, analysis, evaluation, and treatment.
  • Providing and/or supporting education regarding Operational Risk Management at various levels within the company.
  • Assurance of existing Operational Risk Management processes against applicable regulatory and company standards/practices.
  • Generation of key risk related reports.
  • Coordinating and facilitating interrelationships between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working independently on complex technical issues with periodic check-ins with people leader.


  • University degree or Technologist in a related field, e.g., Business, Engineering.
  • Understanding and experience in risk management processes (e.g. ISO 31000).
  • Working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative risk assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and facilitation skills to foster open communication among diverse stakeholders.
  • 4 or more years of experience in oil and gas sector.
