Software Developer, Edinburgh, £33,000 to £35,000

Our client, a leading manufacturing company are currently expanding their software team due to an increase in a large number of software development projects occurring within the business.

VB.Net experience is essential for this role.

Main Areas of Responsibility;

  • Communicate clearly, and partners effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Build prototypes, products and systems suitable for testing.
  • Develop and execute unit tests to ensure and maintain source code quality.
  • Full software development lifecycle from initial specification through the development and testing phase to final user acceptance testing and sign off.
  • Design and build technical solutions to meet functional requirements.
  • Work within agrees estimates notifying the IT & systems development manager of any slippage or issues.
  • Contribute to design standards and support design re-use (.dll creation)
  • Provide support (help desk) and prepare technical documentation.
  • Provide user training for developed products.
  • Web service development and knowledge, API application development.
  • Handheld scanner development, .net compact framework, windows CE.
  • Wifi handheld scanner implementation and development, text document formats (.csv) and pulling and pushing these files (FTP).

Knowledge and Skills;

  • Recognised and current professional qualification
  • Relevant specialist knowledge relating to specific responsibilities - SQL /
  • Programming - ideally 2-4 years of participating in the planning and implementation of software projects
  • Experience of integrating code into existing systems
  • ERP - working knowledge of ERP systems

This role is a full-time, 35 hours per week position, commutable from Edinburgh, Tranent, Dalkeath, Tranent, North Berwick, Dunbar, Gorebridge, Wallyford, Mid-Lothian, Leith, Livingston.
