Job description
The purpose of the post is to provide independent challenge to and guidance on the site's approach to quality; such that projects' quality assurance and quality control performance is enhanced and to manage the management systems process for client. The job holder is responsible for developing, maintaining and providing authoritative and constructive feedback and advice on quality assurance, to ensure compliance with relevant standards and statutory requirement and for providing a service to implement and maintain management systems processes for client.
Key responsibilities:
Develop and implement the site QA strategy, ensuring policies, processes and plans are effective
Develop a continuous improvement strategy through external benchmarking and networking
Review and provide site advice on directorate and project quality arrangements identifying risks, failures and non-conformances
Oversee the project/directorate assessment schedules to ensure quality is being delivered at directorate and project level
Liaise with the independent assessment team to complete directorate, project and management system audits and assessments and close out any actions identified
Review the efficacy and impact of quality control tools and techniques being used and identify improvements
Chair a quality steering group comprising project QA/QC and management systems staff
Liaise with internal/external stakeholders and regulators to determine approach to quality and on all aspects of management systems
Develop and maintain a proportionate and fit for purpose management system in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BS OHAS18001, HS(G) 65 and IAEA GS-R-3, consistent with efficient delivery of the closure contract
Develop and ensure the delivery of management system training
Provide senior management and process owners with advice on management system policy, direction and issues
Oversee the achiever plus system (current management system platform)
Perform the responsibilities of management appointments relevant to post
Manage staff as a line manager
Skills/Experience:
Degree in science/engineering or equivalent qualification plus experience
NEBOSH national general certificate in occupational health and safety
Proven experience in quality management systems
Experience in strategy development and their successful execution
Track record of developing, managing and delivering projects to cost, quality and time which involve multi-partners
Experience of successfully developing and implementing performance metrics
Demonstrable experience of successfully managing sensitive stakeholder relationships, navigating changeable environments and achieving desired outcomes
Experience of leading, managing and developing teams, embedding a diverse and inclusive culture and fostering a collaborative environment where individuals feel respected and included
Ability to constructively challenge existing ways of working within the business and promote a culture of continuous improvement/learning
