Key Responsibilities and Duties,

  • To deliver work including but not limited to design plan, documents prepare and review for specific project in timely manner and of high technical quality.
  • To provide solution for major design and installation issue of specific project.
  • To develop some standard procedure, recommended practice and guideline of subsea pipeline system engineering work for Company, based on the advanced design methodology, principle and working experience obtained from past international projects.
  • To complete other work which includes but not limited to providing some technical support for Company marketing development, advising on discipline's future development strategy, or providing assistance in other relative projects.
  • To hold technical presentation and courses to Company in house engineers and to do some on-job training to Company in house engineers.

Technical Requirements

  • To deliver work of specific subsea pipeline EPCI project in timely manner and of high technical quality.
  • To make a detailed design execution plan based on past subsea pipeline project experience, which includes detailed design schedule and the below contents:
  • Foresee project's subsea pipeline engineering critical activities and provides professional advice / solution;
  • Identify potential risk that may be overlooked in Company normal practice of subsea pipeline design and to provide corrective advice;
  • Perform a tender documents review and foresee any risk that may have significant cost and schedule impact to Company and provide effective corrective advice in advance;
  • To ensure technical integrity of each design deliverable either through document review or hands-on working on preparation of some specific documents, in the end, his / her signature shall be required on each deliverable submitted officially to client. Details are as below.
  • Generally, review of all subsea pipeline design documents is required, including design / analyses reports, drawings and material and construction specifications etc..
  • Hands-on working on below activities as a minimum and preparing relevant deliverable for client approval shall be required:
  • Subsea pipeline free spanning analyses / bottom roughness analysis in complex geophysical and environment, to minimize the required free span correction works by utilizing advanced FEA method, VIV fatigue assessment which goes beyond code (DNVGL-RP-F105) definition.
  • HPHT subsea pipeline global buckling, walking analyses and mitigation design
  • Development of pre-commissioning philosophy for subsea facilities system.
  • Other jobs based on specific project if required.
  • Prepare response to client and third party comments or provide advice in closing these comments in design deliverables;
  • Problem solving and provide expert opinion / advice in making critical project technical decision related to subsea pipeline;
  • To communicate well with other key team members and share past projects experience and lesson learnt with no restriction.
  • Other jobs from specific projects.
  • To hold some technical presentation and courses to Company in house engineers and to do some on-job training to Company in house engineers.
  • To hold technical presentation and courses to Company in house engineers, topics may cover but not limited to the below.
  • Past project experience and lesson learnt;
  • Technical topic on risks in subsea pipeline EPCI project;
  • Technical topic on FEA aided subsea pipeline engineering design based on specific projects that the person has worked on in the past;
  • Technical topic on HPHT subsea pipeline global buckling analysis and mitigation design in based on specific projects that the person has worked on in the past
  • To make training plan and do on-job training to Company in house engineers for the below topics as a minimum.
  • Subsea pipeline project execution plan,
  • Subsea pipeline free spanning / on bottom roughness,
  • HPHT subsea pipeline global buckling, walking analyses and mitigation design
  • To develop some standard procedure, recommended practice and guideline of detailed design of subsea pipeline system for Company, based on the advanced design methodology, principle and working experience obtained from past international projects. Below topics may be as a minimum:
  • Pipe-soil interaction analysis
  • Route selection of subsea pipeline with complex seabed features
  • Pre-commissioning philosophy for subsea facility system
  • Flow induced vibration design of subsea pipeline
  • HPHT subsea pipeline global buckling, walking analysis and mitigation design
  • Subsea pipeline span analysis, bottom roughness and span rectification
  • To complete other work which includes but not limited to providing some technical support for Company marketing development, advising on discipline's future development strategy, or providing assistance in other relative projects..

Required knowledge and Experience

  • Proven subsea pipeline EPCI capability and good knowledge from detail design to procurement, fabrication, construction and pre-commissioning of offshore subsea pipelines associated subsea pipeline components, with detailed requirement as below:
  • Shall have minimum 15 years working experience in subsea pipeline engineering design, of which at least 3 projects shall be of subsea pipeline EPCI projects in Middle East area and in which the candidate works as subsea pipeline lead engineer.
  • Shall have the capability of performing all relevant calculation and analyses in subsea pipeline detailed design independently.
  • Meanwhile, the candidate shall have experience of past projects to work independently as subsea pipeline lead to be involved in each stage of pipeline EPCI projects, including design, procurement, construction and pre-commissioning etc.
  • Shall have very good experience working with international well known clients, like SAUDI ARAMCO, ADNOC, Total, Exxon, BP, Shell etc.
  • Experience in Worley Parson, Technip FMC, WOOD GROUP, MCDERMOTT and other well-known international marine engineering design companies is preferred.
  • Well familiar with offshore subsea pipeline international codes and standards of latest version, such as DNVGL subsea pipeline standards (especially DNVGL-ST-F101), API, ASME, AISC etc.. Has been involved in subsea pipeline related linear/ nonlinear, static/dynamic analyses (including global buckling, free-spanning) and is skilled in programming with Visual Fortran, Visual C++, Excel VBA and second development on commercial Finite-Element Analysis software, ABAQUS e.g..
  • Have well established working experience in the use of Finite-Element Analysis software such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, etc.
  • Expertise in subsea pipeline material, manufacturing procedure and welding will be plus
  • Have very good knowledge in AutoPipe/ OFFPIPE / Orcaflex software
  • Familiar with AutoCAD software and can guide designer to prepare design drawings
  • Bachelor's degree or above;

Language: Fluent in English, Mandarin well-spoken is plus
