About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Solution Architect to work with the Customer Solutions businesses. Customer Solutions covers Business Energy, serving over 500,000 business and public sector customers in GB, and Ireland supplying over 700,000 domestic and business customers in Ireland and Northern Ireland. It also provides an important route to market for our renewable generation.

Some significant changes are taking place in this part of the Client that will need your significant experience to deliver the right solutions to support the growth of the business. There are large change programmes underway for digital transformation, an overhaul of the IT estates, introduction of new billing systems, regulatory changes and the formation of a central data platform.

Responsible for the delivery of the high-level architectures and solution designs for the Billing and CRM, Sales & MKTG domain systems.

Establish strong relationships with stakeholders by inspiring confidence in the delivery of a portfolio of business-focussed projects and initiatives and a mix of large Industry - driven Programmes.

Follow the Client's project delivery and architecture frameworks and will be comfortable with both waterfall and agile delivery methods.

Very familiar with SaaS - based solutions and with Cloud best practices, with a strong preference for Azure.

Leading effective conversations with Cloud and infrastructure architects, Security architects and engineering.

Show ability to quickly address problems at the right level, from high level application architecture to detailed integration patterns.

A key part of the role will be to ensure that the Client make progress on their key issues, while keeping solutions aligned to organisation and industry standards and with other programmes/projects, for which a seamless collaboration with your team and with other Architects across the Client is fundamental.


Able to demonstrate that you will be able to perform in the following areas:

Understand the problem space: delivery of solution architectures and designs for core Billing and CRM, Sales and Marketing solutions through their full lifecycle, while maintaining alignment with IT/industry standards and company strategy

Being recognised as a trusted adviser to business stakeholders and being able to quickly "map" their needs to application functionality/features. Advise stakeholders on best practices and Architectures for Billing and CRM, Sales and Marketing

Being able to lead a project from an architecture perspective, ensuring that all decisions that are architecturally relevant can be taken following the appropriate governance (including peer review) and proactively informing the project plan in that direction

A track record of delivery in both waterfall and agile environments

Understand of Event Driven Architectures and related patterns

Excellent communicator with ability to operate within cross functional teams

Understand a broad range of technologies, ideally including current digital technologies, Big Data and Analytics, Integration and Public Cloud (particularly Azure)

Previous experience of the UK energy industry and experience with MS Dynamics 365 strongly would be strongly advantageous.
