Orion Group is seeking an experienced Senior Software Test Engineer to work onsite with our premiere medical device client in San Jose, CA.

The successful candidate must be able to work as a team member using Agile software development processes to test internal application software for the company's innovative acoustic droplet ejection liquid handling systems.

As a technical contributor, this individual must be comfortable working within a small group of developers and testers in a fast-paced environment to deliver high quality applications. This individual must also be comfortable working in a laboratory environment and work hands on with instrumentation systems, supporting the Systems, Hardware, Software, Manufacturing and Service engineers.

We are looking for self-motivated engineers to write both stand-alone and automated tests for a new instrument development project. Test cases are automated, written in C#. Candidate will need to be able to write, debug, and troubleshoot test cases. The software spans direct control of machines, databases, and user interface elements.

Responsibilities:
* Design test scenarios to verify requirements and confirm correct implementation.
* Code automated tests in C#/.NET.
* Write test reports and capture objective evidence.
* Configure and manage virtual test environments.
* Collaborate with a scrum team.
* Practice rigorous technical code reviews.
* Document bugs.

Required:
* 8+ years' experience testing scientific/analytic applications used in the life science industry
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Strong software engineering best practices background using Agile SW development
* Demonstrated ability to adhere to source control and design control processes
* Demonstrated strong teamwork skills
* Continuous Integration (CI/CD)
* Test by inspection
* Test by Automation
* Experience troubleshooting software failures and debugging
* Experience writing software tests (e.g. unit tests). Knowledge of common object-oriented design patterns
