Job description

We have a current opportunity for a Senior Safety Engineer on a contract basis OUTSIDE of IR35. The position will be based in Buckinghamshire

Extensive experience in oil & gas process design with strong technical knowledge in all Design Safety specialties and a complete understanding/experience of the various scopes of projects across all project phases, including PMC.

The outline scope of deliverables entails:

  • Guaranteeing the compliance of Safety Design engineering solutions within client requirements, industry standards and Group HSE, engineering processes and best practices.
  • Providing demonstrable knowledge of European, American, and international standards applicable to the petrochemical industry.
  • Experience of the principles of plant layout and development of access & maintenance requirements.
  • Understanding & technical participation in constructability reviews and design reviews (Layout fix, 30%, 60% & 90%).
  • A background in leading multi-office projects.
  • Utilising UK Project Experience.

Candidates will require high-level knowledge of preparing, checking, and coordinating the following:

  • Discipline basis of design Discipline Specifications.
  • Data sheets.
  • Material Take-offs & Requisitions.
  • Technical bid evaluations.
  • Layout & Detailed drawings.
  • Contributing to project, client and vendor meetings.
  • Participation in Safety, environmental and operability reviews (HAZID, ENVID, HAZOP, SIL).
  • Fire and Gas detector layout deliverables.
  • Hazardous Area Classification definition.
  • Active and Passive fire-fighting systems - definition.
  • Mobile and portable fire-fighting systems - definition.
  • Quantitative Risk Assessment and related studies.
  • Emergency Response Plans.
  • Safety related P&ID development, including selection of design conditions, hydraulic analysis, line sizing and pipe specifications, equipment isolation, vent and drain systems, cause, and effects.

A deep understanding of Design HSE standards and regulations, industry codes and standards (API, NFPA, IP etc) is essential.
