Orion Group Sciences are looking for a Senior Project Manager for our multinational client based in the North Leinster area. This is a Permanent Role.

Job Purpose
Orion is recruiting for a Senior Project Manager with Heavy Civils experience to manage a marine project in North Leinster. Our Client is a Marine, Civil Engineering and Building firm with offices across Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Main Responsibilities of the role

  • Provide an overall health and safety plan for each site, making an adequate assessment of the risks involved, and ensuring that safe systems of work and method statements are produced, followed and reviewed
  • Agree project targets with Contracts Manager for: Quality, Safety, Programming and Financial
  • Understand the tender philosophy, pricing and programming
  • Attend the tender handover meeting
  • Manage and support the production of a resourced construction programme showing design, procurement, and construction phases with a clearly defined critical path and key milestone dates in line with company standards
  • Organise regular update meetings with the team to review specific progress on the sections and update the overall strategy if required - give direction on key dates, critical path and areas of concern
  • Ensure the programme is kept fully up to date with as built information, changes, delays or lost time complete with references and measured against original
  • Development, management and maintenance of Site Management Plan
  • Monitor progress against cost plans, programmes and quality/environmental plans
  • Manage stakeholder engagement
  • Ensure the designer deliverables are provided in accordance with the programme
  • Monitor compliance with design and build procedures
  • Ensure works are completed defect free to minimise re-work during maintenance period
  • Provide feedback on subcontractor performance, 'lessons learnt' meetings
  • Prepare and present project reports: This includes:

-Programme, costs, resources

-Risk register

-Highlight reports - progress and issues

-Exception reports

-End of project reviews and lessons learnt

-Monthly client progress reports

-Four-weekly SQE minutes/reports

-Working hour/accident reports

Desired Experience and Background of the successful candidate

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a construction related discipline
  • Heavy Civils required with Marine experience desirable
  • Project Management qualification desirable
  • Technical and management abilities
  • Must be delivery driven with the ability to set targets and manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver to time, cost and quality objectives
  • Organisational skills
  • Knowledge of the requirements of CDM regulations
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, environmental and sustainability issues
  • Ability to enable improvement and change
  • Team leadership skills
  • Business and commercial awareness
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexible and adaptable - able to work within a fully integrated office-based department as well as with site-based teams
  • Good communication skills and ability to instil a culture of collaboration
