  • Provide cost/timescale information and progress reporting.
  • Provide design solutions for the nuclear industry and coordinate the production of:
  • Piping General Arrangement Drawings.
  • Piping Isometric Drawings.
  • Pipe Support Detail Fabrication Drawings.
  • Pipe Support Location Drawings.
  • Vessel Fabrication Drawings
  • Functional Specifications/ Functional Requirements Documents
  • Technical Reports and Studies
  • Design Justification Reports
  • Data Sheets
  • Understands and can manage the production of P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) or EFD (Engineering Flow Diagrams).
  • Experience working from EFDs to develop process panel layouts working with Argon, Nitrogen gas, Safety mech's, ATEX, DJRs
  • Manage the production of space management drawings and general arrangement drawings of mechanical equipment that interfaces with pipework.
  • Identify or respond to task variations through formal change control.
  • Take responsibility for delivery of multi-discipline work package to programme, budget and required quality.
  • Able to manage several teams of Designers and Engineers and undertake checking of Mechanical deliverables.
  • Have working knowledge and experience in applying relevant EH&S issues as required by legislation (and applicable Directives).
  • Has presented/chaired at Designers Risk Assessments / Design Reviews and ideally in HAZOP studies.
  • Understands the requirements of PSSR (Pressure Systems Safety Regulations), PER (Pressure Equipment Regulations).and other associated standards.
  • Understand international piping/vessel standards e.g. ISO DIN, ASME, ASTM
  • Has a good working knowledge of site survey requirements.
  • Has working knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D (Autodesk).
  • Has good knowledge of fabrication techniques.
  • Has good knowledge/understanding of achievable manufacturing accuracy.
  • Ideally, will have some 'hands on' experience of pipe/process equipment installation.
  • Has good, working knowledge of manufacturing tolerances of pipes and pipe supports (including allowances for insulation etc.) and the space requirements for installation including the effects of civil tolerances and general mechanical tolerances.
  • Good working knowledge of commonly used materials and associated standards.
  • Understands key piping design parameters e.g. span theory, insulation requirements, trace heating requirements, pipe stress analysis and how to avoid pipe stressing.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Preferably degree qualified (HNC Minimum) with 8 years relevant technical experience.
  • Preferably, will have 5 years nuclear experience.
  • Has a minimum of 5 years recent experience of producing piping design deliverables.
