We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with the capabilities of leading a team and producing and undertaking / contributing towards the following tasks:

  • Producing Basis of Design
  • Contributing to HAZOP Review
  • Producing Design Safety Memo
  • Producing Design Justification Report
  • Production of Technical Files (knowledge of Machinery Directive)
  • Production of Health & Safety Files
  • Liaising with SL Capability Departments
  • Engaging and managing specialist mechanical handling contractors
  • Outline Installation Method Statements
  • Checking of Mechanical design deliverables (drawings/documents) associated to the tasks to an appropriate level
  • Estimate packs for all of the above in line with procurement strategy
  • Reporting against schedule and cost to the SL Mechanical lead
  • Operation and Maintenance Manuals
  • Undertake plant surveys
  • Interpret plant survey data
  • Production of Technical Note for Records

Experience required:

  • Significant Mechanical handling experience SL SQEP Level 3
  • Beta Gamma Remote Handling experience SL SQEP Level 2
  • Nuclear Packages experience SL SQEP Level 2
  • Experience of design delivery in a highly regulated industry with mechanical handling experience.
  • Experience of design delivery using SL Management System.
  • Knowledge of Design Change Control (SQEP & SL training to D03760 Design Change)
  • Familiarity with Cimage, registration of drawings and SL procedures and processes (SLMS)
  • Qualified (SQEP & SL training to D03770 Check & approve Work) to check drawings & technical documents
  • Knowledge of Design fundamentals PUWER, CDM, IRR, LOLER
  • Qualified (SQEP) to produce and check mechanical strength & stability calculations
  • Proactive approach, team player and ownership of the task
