Senior Mechanical Designer

We're looking for a Mechanical Designer with the capabilities of producing and undertaking / contributing towards the following tasks:

  • Contributing to HAZOP Review
  • Contributing to Assurance Reviews
  • Engaging specialist mechanical handling contractors

Production of Mechanical design deliverables, including;

  • Mechanical Flow Diagrams
  • Block Flow Diagrams
  • General Arrangement Drawings
  • Design Proposal Drawings
  • Sub Assembly and Detail Drawings
  • Production of 2D drawings & GA; Details for manufacture
  • Production of 3D models of Plant & Equipment
  • Production of manufacturing drawings from 3D models
  • Input to estimate packs for all of the above in line with procurement strategy
  • Undertake plant surveys
  • Interpret plant survey data
  • Production of Technical Note for Records

Experience required:

  • Significant Mechanical handling experience SL SQEP Level 3
  • Beta Gamma Remote Handling experience SL SQEP Level 2
  • Nuclear Packages experience SL SQEP Level 2
  • Experience of design delivery in a highly regulated industry with mechanical handling experience.
  • Experience of design delivery using SL Management System.
  • Ability to demonstrate SQEP against Designer Role (SR0754)
  • Sound knowledge of BS 8888
  • Familiarity with Cimage, registration of drawings and SL procedures and processes (SLMS)
  • Design fundamentals PUWER, CDM, IRR, LOLER
  • Proactive approach, team player and ownership of the task
  • Strong behavioural competencies in the following

Classified/monitored worker (preferable)

P1 / P4 pass holder

Proficient in AutoCAD and 3D modelling (Inventor / ProEngineer)
