Job description


Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Geologist, based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:
* Independently carry out the hand-over from the DSO study team of the suite of preliminary study geological models, interpretations and well trajectories used to support the proposed appraisal campaign
* Provide and supervise geological input for the well preparation process (WSOR) in close cooperation with team geophysicists, reservoir engineers, Operations Geology and Drilling teams
* Review and provide geological uncertainties in close co-operation with the team Geophysicist to ensure best practices/standards are systematically applied for the well design process (WSOR)
* Supervise and follow-up the drilling operations from an Asset perspective, including performing real time stratigraphic correlations and coordination of any well data acquisitions
* Contribute and play a key technical role in 3G synthesis in close cooperation with Senior Geophysicist and Senior Reservoir Engineers
* Technically manage specialist studies in-house or contracted, such as cores analysis, sedimentological, structural, geomechanical studies …
* Develop and promote opportunities for the further development of the fields and core areas, applying innovative approaches and technology to deliver added value
* Effectively present work conclusions, justifying technical analyses and recommendations, both written and verbal to Company and HQ management
* Participate in subsurface committees and workgroups, presenting technical interpretations and recommendations
* Assist in the professional development of the team of Geologists through encouraging, by example, the positive sharing of knowledge and experience
* Perform efficient data management and follow best practices for reporting and archiving work

Experience & Qualifications:
* Minimum BSc Hons (MSc preferred) degree in Geology with minimum relevant experience in the oil industry
* Advanced knowledge of clastic sedimentology and sequence stratigraphy, with experience of 3D geological modelling and geostatistics
* Good understanding of geophysics, operations geology and reservoir engineering
* Excellent written and verbal communication and organisational skills
* Good knowledge of geological modelling or interpretation software's
* Ability to work in complete autonomy within tight time constraints while still delivering high quality technical interpretations
