Hear from the Hiring Manager:
This role will support the delivery of Facility Compliance and Decommissioning, the Vent Improvement Project and ongoing material disposition projects. You will be responsible for specifying and managing engineering activities which will include compliance with CDM 2015 duties. The ideal candidate should have good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities:
Control and develop technical engineering strategies including Asset Care Plans, Asset Condition Health Reviews and associated procedures
Establish and maintain Design Authority arrangements
Undertake project governance roles as required
Develop an effective technical organisation to manage fit for purpose engineering design and safety project delivery in support of the Site Performance Plan
Management of the third party fabrication, construction, and installation of the mechanical design
Manage the preparation, approval and issue of technical specifications including the review of all project designs and documentation
Apply health, safety, environmental and waste management processes with engineering activities taking advice where necessary from appropriate specialists
Develop and execute an engineering and safety case delivery strategy, optimising plans to respond to changes when necessary
Support the project in the delivery of projects/programmes of work and sanction approvals
Provide advice and guidance to ensure compliance with site standards, procedures, legislation, and quality standards
Liaise effectively with regulators and stakeholders on specific projects
Support investigations with regard to specific engineering discipline
Perform the responsibilities of Management Appointments relevant to post
Line Manager duties
Skills/Experience:
The successful post holder will be familiar with CDM regulations and support both the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor in delivering their responsibilities
The post holder will also be able to interact and engage effectively with Contractors is reviewing and closing out technical queries
Degree in Engineering or equivalent based on Engineering Council Standard for Engineering Technician
Comprehensive Engineering experience
Good understanding of safety requirements and knowledge for both industrial and nuclear safety management.
Previous experience in the following areas would be advantageous/desirable:
Commissioning of new plant and processes
Project delivery to time, cost, quality and SH&E
Process plant operations
Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
Ability to demonstrate good organisational and planning skills
Knowledge of key legislative issues, regulatory requirements and legislating bodies
Able to communicate effectively
A positive approach, self-motivated, assertive and ability to use initiative
