Senior Commissioning Engineer

Our client is a world leader in atmospheric and process gases equipment and supplier of liquefied natural gas process technology and equipment. Due to continued expansion, the client is looking to recruitment a SENIOR COMMISSIONING ENGINEER to ensure the efficient and effective execution on-site during the construction phase of regional on-site projects, and to provide support during the commissioning phase.

This role is based on overseas assignments with remote support in-between these to support other Engineering tasks such as flow sheet development, commissioning procedure development as well as supporting bidding activities.

Because of the nature of this role we're looking for individuals who can demonstrate a track record of leading successful plant start-ups to strict schedules and safety standards while working remotely. Experience and initiative will be key factors in our selection process.

Key tasks and responsibilities
Commissioning of Air Separation and Flammable Gas Processing units world-wide, mostly for third party customers.

  • Managing the day to day responsibility for pre-commissioning, commissioning and plant start-up through to performance test and local operator training.
  • Reporting to the Start-up Manager or the Project Manager on project specific issues or any commissioning or safety related issues.
  • Ensuring adherence to all AP safety policies, appropriate engineering standards, engineering procedures and industry standards.
  • Support the delivery of project KPI's, including cascading safety, quality and schedule KPI's onto individual team members.
  • Providing leadership in risk identification, mitigation and management, ensuring prompt prioritisation and escalation as required.


What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Process or Mechanical Engineering
  • Significant on- site experience working in chemical, petrochemical or related process industries.
  • Start-up, commissioning or plant operating experience, ideally with exposure to Cryogenic Air Separation and Flammable gas plants.
  • Deep understanding of all aspects of process commissioning of systems and equipment
  • Knowledgeable across related disciplines, specifically Electrical, Instrumentation & Control.
  • Knowledgeable in relevant industry standards and work processes to ensure safe and practical installation and commissioning through the pre-commissioning to start-up and performance test phases.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and organisational skills, the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
  • Flexible attitude to travel, sometimes at short notice and be prepared for extended periods away from home.
  • Good knowledge of Government legislation, international regulations and HSE best practice.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent certification.
  • Saudi Aramco experience (favourable)
