One of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Civil Works, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions. Our product range and activities are diverse in both the private and public sectors and we are an important division of an FTSE 100 Company who operate as one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK with around 10 million customers, across our various brands. Due to ongoing growth and contract wins, we currently have an opportunity for a Senior Bid Writer to join us on a permanent basis.

The main purpose of this role will be to manage a team of Bid Writers and Bid Coordinators to produce bid content, to the highest standard, for large Mechanical and Electrical Projects valued in excess of £3m in accordance with the Blue Print and Bid Plan produced by the Bid Manager. The Senior Bid Writer will be responsible for managing their Bid Content Pipeline ensuring each Bid is appropriately resourced; planning, writing, reviewing and submitting winning bids; pulling in content from across Contracting, Enterprise and Partner organisations to support bid production and ensuring all good responses are archived in the Bid Library for subsequent reuse; liaising with the Bid Managers and Senior Managers to ensure all necessary support is given to the bid and that they are kept fully briefed of progress and issues.

In addition you will be responsible for validating the Bid with Sales, Operations and Commercial leads through colour reviews and developing the capabilities of the Bid Writing Team in terms of the breadth of knowledge on all M&E activities undertaken by the business and the quality of their submissions.

The outcome is for the Senior Bid Writer to deliver a safe, professional, compelling, compliant (ensuring all safety, quality, technical and commercial requirements are fully met) and ultimately a winning bid that uniquely articulates the business's value proposition and provides a solid foundation for delivery success. Key to your success will be excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport at all organisational levels; negotiation skills to ensure an excellent bid is submitted; a high level of motivation with the ability to schedule your own workload, to maximise productivity and meet tight deadlines.

Proven experience within a similar role is essential as is a background and knowledge of the construction industry including that of civils, m&e, utilities etc You should possess excellent attention to detail and organisational skills as well as an ability to work under pressure and achieve goals & deadlines.
