Orion Group are looking for a Senior Benefits Specialist for our Multinational Medical Devices client based in Europe (UK, Germany, France or Prague) on a permanent basis.

Job Purpose
This role will initially be largely responsible for providing the day to day support of benefits & pension administration in partnership with local broker & provider partners. This individual will serve as point person for day to day benefits & pension administration for EMEA countries, as well as partner closely with payroll country leads to ensure accuracy of benefits deductions & pension contributions.

This position will be based in the UK, Germany, France or Prague.

Main Responsibilities of the role

  • Partner closely with payroll leads to ensure monthly payments to our vendors and carriers executed via payroll systems
  • Ensures timely execution of vendor payment processes (via Purchase Order process) and keeps detailed invoicing logs for each country
  • Partners with county broker (Aon) representatives to create & maintain new hire/onboarding employee benefit materials for each country
  • Oversees administration of benefit plan processes and provides resolution for administrative benefits issues (i.e. including but not limited: process new hire changes, enrolment/eligibility issues, pension calculations and entitlements)
  • Assists with special projects relating to reengineering and streamlining administrative processes associated with benefit plan delivery
  • Works with Manager to execute annual open enrolment countries (in countries where applicable)
  • Researching and analysing benefits plans, programs, and policies
  • Monitoring government regulations, legislation, and benefits trends
  • Support the strengthening of the benefits governance framework and the scaling of the benefit processes/programs across the region
  • Participate in preparing materials to senior management and other internal/external stakeholders
  • Support annual global processes on the global pension accounting and benefits budgeting
  • Optimize and mature the benefits management processes and tools
  • Develop and periodic update the benefit communication materials
  • Coordinate and monitor data feeds to vendors (works closely with broker, HRIS & payroll)
  • Manage processes to ensure quality control, validity, and accuracy of benefits census data
  • Assists in benefits and compensation inquiries including basic benefits troubleshooting, updating the wage scales, leave requests, paid time off inquiries, research, and troubleshooting, and life event and open enrolment support (where applicable)

Desired Experience and Background of the successful candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in business-related field; 5 years minimum of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of benefits for EMEA countries & relevant taxation & regulatory requirements
  • High level of personal accountability and a desire to own issues through final completion
  • Intellectual curiosity: Desire to find answers to questions with minimal to no intervention from manager
  • Ability to work independently and effectively plan and set priorities for self to accomplish required tasks
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business correspondence, instruction guides, and training materials
  • Performs duties independently with supervision from manager, operating from general directions and instructions
  • Decisions are of a routine nature made within prescribed operating guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Strong Ethics and Discretion: Because compensation and benefits specialists deal with confidential information, they must be stewards of ethics and discrete when it comes to handling sensitive information
  • Analytically inclined: The HR compensation and benefits profession requires professionals with strong analytical capabilities, as they are required to analyse trends, surveys, and spreadsheets as to determine compensation and benefits strategies
  • Detail-oriented: Compensation and benefits strategies are highly technical in nature, and the work involves a considerable amount of research and the interpretation of data. Therefore, compensation and benefits managers must be detail-oriented as to understand how compensation fits into the overall objectives of the organization
  • Great communication: must be able to communicate effectively with employees and senior executives. They must also be comfortable presenting programs to employee groups
  • Relevant WorldatWork certifications, CEBS or other local/regional relevant certificate programs preferred
