Job description

Orion Group are sourcing a Senior Accountant on behalf of our Multinational Biopharmaceutical Client on an initial 18-month contract located in Cork.

We are a research-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and commercializes innovative medicines in areas of unmet medical need. You will be joining the operations finance team with the following sub-teams:

  1. Global Inventory Centre of Excellence (COE);
  2. Financial Planning and Analysis; and
  3. Controllership.


This role would provide an excellent opportunity for suitable candidate to gain varied experience in both inventory accounting and FP&A. Job Description:

  • Opportunity to participate in the implementation of SAP S/4 HANA (latest SAP version)
  • Exposure to all areas of work order accounting and variance accounting including manufacturing and purchase price variance analysis, review and reconciliation of inventory balances and General Ledger account reconciliations.
  • Involvement in global inventory reconciliation and global inventory reserve process.
  • Preparation and distribution of monthly management reporting including monthly financials, shipments, headcount, capital and functional expense reporting.
  • Business partnering with site department heads ensure they are aware of their spending versus budget and latest LE expectation.
  • Involvement in annual budget and forecast cycles, meeting all local and corporate deadlines and deliverables.

    Knowledge & Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact effectively across multi-function and multi-site projects and processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, good analytical reasoning and excellent attention to detail.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft tools (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word & Teams).

    Preferred Experience:
  • Qualified Accountant with 3 years of strong relevant post qualification experience.
  • Experience in inventory and cost accounting an advantage.
  • Experience of a manufacturing multinational environment would be a major advantage.
  • Experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry a plus.
  • SAP experience an advantage.
