Scientist I - Powder handling and formulations
Pay Rate:$32-35/hr (Medical benefits available at a cost)
Onsite - Lake County
Length of assignment - 2 years
Orion Group is seeking a highly organized and skilled Scientist/Chemist to work in North Chicago, IL with our global pharmaceutical client. This team is working within a formulation and process development laboratory for oral solid dosages. Experience with handling of powder ingredients and formulation for various dosage forms is highly recommended to be successful in this position.
Purpose :
* Investigate, identify, develop, and optimize new methods and techniques to generate reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner.
* Read and adapt scientific literature to accomplish assignments and demonstrate broad and versatile technical expertise within discipline.
What are the top 3-5 skills, experience or education required for this position:
* Powder handling/processing experience
* Laboratory experience (working in a lab)
* Scientific research experience
* BS or MS in any science or engineering. Preferably pharmaceutical or chemical engineering.
Responsibilities :
* Independently design and conduct critical experiments that further project goals.
* Implement and may innovate new experimental protocols/techniques.
* Understand the goal and maintain a high proficiency in his/her projects as well as the overall program.
* Interpret results and draw conclusions from own multistage experiments, note significant deviations, then suggest, design, and pursue relevant experiments.
* Understand relevant scientific literature and apply theoretical framework to solving problems within scientific discipline in a timely manner.
* Perform routine and complex tasks competently and independently and generate reliable and consistent results.
* Impact projects mostly through lab and/or pilot plant based activities.
* Responsible for compliance with all applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.
* Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education, or Master's Degree or equivalent education with 2 years of hands-on lab experience
* Relevant lab experience working with chemicals and powders preferrably in a drug development lab
* Theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out the job functions.
