Our client is an Energy company who are a involved in the generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity, in the production, storage, distribution and supply of gas and in other energy services.

You will be involved in all aspects of onshore and offshore wind farm operations but will be focused on SCADA systems development and support. This will include hardware and software installation and commissioning support, 3rd party interface management and development of control system procedures.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Be the generation team point of contact and owner for all SCADA related issues
  • Support the SCADA and interfacing systems commissioning activities on the ground learning about the equipment and developing familiarity with the interface controls
  • Generate SCADA operational documentation for Control room and engineering staff
  • Design, develop and implement procedures to support the local control staff
  • Support incident investigation activities through data analysis of wind farm operational parameters
  • Facilitate the impending OFTO split of the SCADA system
  • Control 3rd Party data access support
  • Assist with Internal data management support (Error Logging, Reporting, Trending)
  • Manage SCADA Upgrade/maintenance and change control
  • Implement fault finding tools, methods to aid with alarm diagnosis
  • Create control room procedures for SCADA related incidents, failures / Network problems etc
  • Build and document offshore operations experience and inform the wider organisation with a view to standardisation across the offshore and onshore 'fleet'
  • Assist in turbine and 'Balance of Plant' related improvement projects on operating wind farms as required

With experience of installation of PC Client / server systems, you'll have client level knowledge of networking (TCP/IP), fixing of IP addresses and an understanding of network topologies including client requirements in a firewalled environment. You should have experience with Microsoft client / server connection COM/DCOM and database experience SQL/Oracle. SCX (Serck) and / or OSI/Pi experience would be beneficial.

Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline (or with equivalent relevant experience), you should be experienced with large corporate IT systems and management of data flows through them. You'll possess experience in a data intensive engineering role, ideally within the Wind Industry and have strong Microsoft Office skills.
