Safety Health & Environment Manager - Utilities

Location: Reading

Salary: £42 - £63k + car/cash allowance + annual bonus

Role

As the successful candidate, your role will be a management position supporting effective SHE delivery within the Enterprise Utilities business. Reporting to the Head of SHE Enterprise, you will promote relevant health, safety and environmental policies to keep people, assets and the environment safe from harm. You'll be responsible for reinforcing positive safety values and challenging negative behaviours, incorporating lessons learnt from any incident investigations.

Your Skills and Experience

To succeed in this position, you'll have experience in a high-hazard industry, working with SHE policies in an asset-intensive environment. Experience in project management or engineering is important, with evidence of safely delivered projects.

You will hold an Occupational Health and Safety Management, scientific, environmental or engineering qualification or have relevant industry experience. You'll have, or be working towards, your IOSH (or similar body) membership, with the ability to manage specialist SHE technical disciplines.

A good understanding of SHE Management Systems, risk assessment techniques and experience of incident investigation will be vital. You'll act as a confident role model to build strong leadership teams, with a natural flair for forging relationships, able to motivate your team and work against challenging constraints.
