My client, one of the world's largest aviation fuel suppliers, require a Resident/Construction Engineer for a long term project at Manchester Airport.

The Resident Engineer is responsible as a key member of the Project Management Team for the management of site construction for the project including Health, Safety, Security and Environmental, Schedule, Cost and Risk control.

The role will also work with the designers and construction managers appointed to install the hydrant works. They shall directly oversee and ensure the site construction including HSSE, schedule, Cost and Risk control whilst ensuring the project does not impact Jet A-1 supply at Manchester Airport.

Responsibilities:

* Contractual experience of managing contracts (and contractors) to NEC
* Ensure project is executed in line with client Standards, and Aviation standards / guidelines, site requirements and local legislation
* Able to exercise knowledge of other engineering disciplines - knowledge of mechanical, hydrant, pipeline, civil, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering is beneficial.
* Ability to engage and manage multiple stakeholders and ensure project is delivered safely to schedule
* Development of productive relationships with Operations teams, contractors and project engineering personnel in order to achieve the objectives outlined in Project Governance.
* Day to day interface with the Airport Civil Contractor, planners and PMT
* Ensure TQ/QA records are maintained and in line with the QA Plan
* Management and control of budget with Delegation or Authority
* Direct oversight of construction, project reporting and providing Integrity Assurance of as-built works and construction in line with the scope of works.
* Site Safety Management of the works and delivery of site inductions
* Demonstrate capability to write, review, approve/reject, as appropriate, all discipline contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
* Ensure planned activities on site are only undertaken by suitably trained and competent personnel.
* Scrutinise and maintain on site copies of appropriate training certification on behalf of the Principal Designer and Client under CDM.
* Ensure the required COSHH assessments are carried out to protect operatives from exposure to hazardous substances.
* Ensure all appropriate equipment safety certification, scrutinise and maintain copies of appropriate documentation on site.
* Ensure all welfare facilities and temporary office accommodation are maintained in full working order and hygienic state.
* Support the Control of Work (CoW) process, by performing the role of Permit Issuing Authority, reviewing / writing Method Statement and Risk Assessment (where required for the project). Training in CoW process will be provided

Required skills and experience:

* Strong experience of Construction industry experience (essential).
* Airside aviation experience with multi discipline construction activities (desirable).
* Strong knowledge of project control techniques, including programme management, cost control and risk management.
* Ability to lead and work with multi-disciplinary teams, including contractors, JV partners, engineering and management contacts.
* Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and objectives.
* Strong attention to detail and sound technical decision making.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong knowledge of applicable industry codes, including BS4515, pipe fitting and pipeline construction practices.
* Strong knowledge of working with/ within a Control of Work environment (including issuing of work permits)
* Ability to lead and work with multi-disciplinary teams, including contractors, JV partners, engineering and management contacts.
* Ability to work under pressure and lead a team to meet tight deadlines and objectives.
* Strong attention to detail and sound technical decision making.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
