Regional IT Support

Our client, a specialised company offering a range of services to support multiple industries, are looking for a Regional IT Support to join them in their offices near Inverness.

The Regional IT Support will be responsible for supporting and assisting all IT users working on sites belonging to the Region they are appointed to. This will include IT users located physically on those sites as well as all mobile users attached to them.

The Regional IT Support will also be responsible for ensuring the availability and performance of the IT infrastructure located in the sites they are responsible for.

  • Asset management
  • Helpdesk
  • System & Network support and maintenance
  • Business Applications
  • Reporting & Documentation database maintenance


Experience & knowledge:

  • Experience in a similar position is an advantage, although IT graduates may be possible in small regions

Education:

  • IT Graduate Technician /
  • Graduate with similar IT support experience


Technical skills:

Technical skills required include significant knowledge of the following technologies:

  • OS: MS Windows Server 2008 and later, MS Windows 7 and later
  • Network: LAN (TCP/IP), WAN, DNS, DHCP
  • Email: MS Exchange Online and Outlook
  • Office Tools: MS Office 2007 and later (Office 365 environment), Visio, Adobe Acrobat, Nuance PDF Converter 5 and later
  • System tools: Antivirus, Backup, Antispyware, FTP
  • Project tools: Microsoft Project
  • Good knowledge of Local Area Network (Switches, Hubs, Routers)
  • Knowledge of Apple Smartphones (iPhones, iOS) and MDM (Mobile Devices Management)
  • Directory: Active Directory, LDAP
  • Preparation/protection PC tools: Ghost/Acronis
  • Collaboration Tools: Skype, WebEx, Intercall, Cisco Jabber


Interpersonal skills:

  • Demonstrate availability, involvement and autonomy in their professional activity
  • Limit costs and have a role to reduce them (avoid unnecessary purchase requests, analyze real needs before initiating a purchase)
  • Hands on, must be ready to dig in technical details to sort out difficulties
  • Ability to manage priorities, to identify urgent needs from less critical requirements
  • Must be able to convince peers of the effectiveness of their recommendations
  • Ability to be well accepted and recognized as an expert in their domain
  • Work with other members of the Team, external contractors, and prevents Group IT Operations Manager of all risks or issues during the day-to-day work
  • Have a positive spirit in all circumstances (with internal people and external contractors)
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to deadlines
