916230 - Regional Financial Controller

We are currently working alongside our client to secure the services of a Regional Financial Controller for a permanent position based in the Highlands

The purpose of the role is to be accountable for financial reporting and controls within the region, ensuring timely preparation for financial statements for all regional legal entities in accordance with accounting principles and standards and also in compliance with all relevant business principals and statutory regulations, laws and reporting requirements. Also to provide financially related strategic input for the region and manage the purchasing function

Key Accountabilities/ Responsibilities

  • Accountable for all financial and accounting activities of the region, ensuring accurate, transparent and timely cost relation financial data to enable efficient management operations and good management decisions, continuing development and growth, to the business
  • Directly report and provide support to the Regional VP and functionally to the VP finance
  • Develop cost analysis by department and project as well as to prepare monthly report to corporate
  • Supervise all accounting, audit and taxation for the UK and European companies including managing the relationship with external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with laws and accounting standards of both UK and company related
  • Ensure all payroll, tax compliance and share reporting is completed on time, accurately and with minimal errors
  • Develop and implement internal control procedures, review internal controls in particular in relation to fraud and financial processes and recommend corrective measures
  • Maintain existing financial information system
  • Prepare daily cash flow projections, manage working capital optimisation & manage banking relationship of UK companies in accordance with Group cash pooling rules and ensure proper processes are in place with respect to possible cash fraud
  • Assist the Regional VP in formulating the financial strategies to support the expansion of business operations
  • Restructure and reorganise the finance department as required to improve output and performance, ensuring support to other departments, managers and senior management is maintained
  • Ensure the department is geared up for all quarterly reporting
  • Working with other managers ensure bid preparation, project management and financial project tracking processes are in place to assist the project teams and estimators in better understanding its finances and margins for future bids and tenders
  • Ensure that all disciplinary, grievance and labour relations issues are dealt with expediously and/or discussed with HR/Senior management. Regular monitoring of performance of those personnel assigned to you by way of appraisals and the determination of all subsequent training and personal development requirements

Education

  • Professional accreditation with MICPA, ACCA, ASCPA, MIA, CIMA, ICAS
  • Professional qualification in accountancy or alternatively evidence of experience in a similar role may be considered
  • Minimum 5 years post qualification including audit/ tax experience
  • Familiar with UK HMRC statutory practices, requirements and standards including returns, PAYE and VAT
  • In-depth exposure to financial systems and account analysis/ reconciliation. standard and actual costs systems and cost analysis
  • Proven ability to define problems, collect date, establish facts, and draw valid and professional conclusions
  • Preferably familiar with Norwegian statutory requirements

This is a permanent position
