Quantity Surveyor required for one of the UK's leading housebuilder in the west midlands

Provide the business with cost management for assigned developments from land procurement to the completion of sub-contract final accounts and statutory authority adoption certificates

Reports to: Surveying Manager/ Commercial Manager / Commercial Director

Works with: Buyers, Build Department, Technical Department, Subcontractors and site staff

Education, training or qualifications

  • HNC / HND in Surveying
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete a degree course as part of their employment Relevant experience
  • At least 1-year experience working within a residential house builder
  • Experience may be gained from a similar position or promotion
  • A good understanding or building regulations and legal obligations
  • A good knowledge or construction methods and materials Special skills or knowledge
  • Strong mathematical and IT ability
  • Ability to assess and analyse information
  • Good business sense
  • Good understanding of budget management
  • Negotiating and networking skills Interpersonal skills and attitude
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Able to work under pressure, and accept criticism of work
  • Good team working skills
  • Accurate with an eye for detail
  • A methodical approach Special Circumstances
  • Willing to work extra to meet deadlines as and when the business needs require it


Education, training or qualifications

  • Degree in Surveying or similar
  • Working towards being a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Relevant experience
  • Able to show they committed to their chosen profession by continued self development, i.e., short courses, seminars etc
