Orion Group Sciences are looking for a Quality Engineer for our client based in Cork. This is a permanent role.


Job Purpose
Orion Group Sciences are looking for a Quality Engineer for our multinational medical device client based in Cork Quality Assurance provides quality engineering support to the assigned production area or project. Role ensures product quality and production, provides quality support while adhering to project schedule.

Main Responsibilities of the role

  • Reviews requirements, specifications and technical design documents
  • Creates detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Estimates, prioritizes, plans and coordinates testing activities
  • Designs, develops and executes automation scripts using open source tools
  • Identifies, records, documents thoroughly and track discrepancies
  • Performs thorough regression testing when discrepancies are resolved
  • Develops and applies testing processes
  • Liaises with internal teams to identify system requirements
  • Monitors debugging process results
  • Investigates the causes of non-conforming software and train users to implement solutions
  • Tracks quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts  Stays up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies

Desired Experience and Background of the successful candidate

  • Minimum: BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
  • Preferred: Master's degree in a technical discipline. Further qualifications such as Masters in Technical/Physical Sciences/Statistics for reduced experience will be considered
  • Minimum: 2+ years process quality engineering experience with technical and validation experience
  • Preferred: 4+ years process quality engineering experience with technical and validation experience
  • Proven work experience in software development
  • Proven work experience in software quality assurance
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
  • Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting
  • Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus
