Location - Dalgety Bay, Fife

Our client a successful manufacturing business is seeking to appoint an experienced and capable Quality Engineer.

Position Overview

To assist the QHSE Manager as Quality Engineer and to take the lead role in further enhancing the client's Quality Management System ensuring provision of high quality products to their customers.

Main Responsibilities include:

  • Constantly promote all continuous improvement activities.
  • Play a lead role in the development and guide the continued execution of the Quality Management System
  • Facilitate Problem Solving activities using a recognized tool set
  • Analysis of quality data and identifying areas for improvement - Top 3
  • Final inspection of product prior to delivery to customer.
  • Ensure all customer non-conformance is appropriately managed with timely closure
  • Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations
  • Effectively communicate conformance and improvements to ISO9001
  • Plan, execute and follow up on internal audits.
  • Coordination of Quality Inspectors duties
  • Participate and where appropriate take the lead in Lean activities.
  • Conduct 5S + Safety audits and assist with development programs to improve safety.
  • Using the Quality Management System data, target improvement activities for products and processes to improve customer satisfaction both internal and external.
  • Maintain calibration database and coordinate equipment calibration
  • Participate in and lead development of strong sustainable improvements to processes.
  • Assist in guiding the use of technology in Quality Management System.
  • Effective reporting of quality KPI's
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies e.g. ISO 9001, H&S etc.

Advises appropriately of concerns, problems and progress of work in a timely manner. Demonstrates a sound balance between quality and quantity of work while maintaining a sense of urgency toward completion. That deadlines are met.

Relationships: Primary interaction with QHSE Manager, Quality Team members, Operations and other senior staff including Production Management, Team Leaders and entire manufacturing operations personnel.

Qualifications:

Degree qualified in an Engineering Discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering, appropriate level of experience combined with lessor or alternative qualifications may be sufficient.

Essential Skills and Experience

3 years' experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment with strong practical skills particularly in ISO 90001 / continuous improvement environment. Working knowledge of lean principals including root cause analysis.

Desirable but not essential:

Six Sigma Black or Green Belt

Lead Auditor accreditation

AutoCAD or other CAD software exposure

Microsoft Office

Supervision:

Works to and meets deadlines with minimum supervision while implementing clearly communicated corporate strategy and goals. Must work on own initiative and constantly support the company mission and effectively communicate to all, the requirements of the Quality Management System.
