Quality Engineer, Southampton, £36,000 to £40,000

Orion Engineering have been appointed to resource for a Quality Controller/Engineer to join a manufacturing company based on the outskirts of Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Controller/Engineer to join a business where there is room for progression. Ideally you will also have good knowledge and experience of current health and safety legislation and assist with all aspects of health and safety.

  • Establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality awareness throughout all departments

  • Ensure compliance with the company's QMS

  • Prepare for and represent the company during external audits

  • Manage internal audits in accordance with ISO 9001

  • Prepare first article inspections and finished product inspections

  • Conduct new product testing

  • Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the products

  • Investigate problems, customer complaints, analyse root causes and derive resolutions

  • Train personnel to perform quality checks safely and efficiently.

The successful Quality Controller will have the following skills and experience:

  • ISO 9001 - QMS lead auditor trained

  • Ideally HNC/HND in mechanical/production engineering

  • Experience of using and updating MRP systems

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements

  • A "hands on" individual rather than a sit behind the desk individual.

In return you will be offered a competitive salary of £36k-£40k, 25 days holiday + BH, Pension, Sick pay, company bonus.

This role is commutable from Southampton, Eastleigh, Winchester, Romsey, Christchurch, Ringwood, Totton, Marchwood, Lyndhurst, Fareham, Gosport, Basingstoke, Portsmouth.
