Job description

Orion Group Life Sciences are currently recruiting a QC Support Analyst on behalf of our Multinational Agrichemical client based in Grangemouth on an initial 12- month contract.

Job Summary:

The QC Support Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the quality of final active ingredients (AI) and formulated products manufactured at the facility. This position is responsible for performing quality control analysis, maximizing manufacturing efficiency, and providing backup support to the shift team. The incumbent will prioritize and analyse samples, assess product quality against manufacturing specifications, maintain and calibrate analytical equipment, monitor equipment performance, and provide training to other members of the Analytical Department. The role contributes to achieving production targets, supports problem-solving efforts, and participates in method tech transfer, development work, and efficiency improvement projects.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Prioritize and analyse final AI and GFP samples from the manufacturing plants, ensuring timely communication of results within agreed lead times.
  • Analyse and verify the product quality of active ingredients, ensuring conformity to predetermined manufacturing specifications for product clearance.
  • Calibrate and maintain all analytical equipment in accordance with departmental quality systems.
  • Monitor the performance of analytical equipment and methods, assessing the fitness of results and identifying deviations and faults for prompt resolution.
  • Train other members of the Analytical Department to the required competence level, effectively sharing technical knowledge for a high level of analytical competence across the department.

Skills and Qualifications:

Complexity:

Experience:

Essential:

  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-starting and motivated.
  • Technical proficiency in GC, LC operations.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Operational experience of Agilent instrumentation.
  • Experience in GC, LC maintenance and troubleshooting.

Education:

  • Minimum HNC or equivalent in a chemistry-related discipline.
  • Detailed working knowledge of GC, LC, and CDS operations.
  • Analytical troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 standard and its requirements.
