Orion Group are looking for a Project Manager for our multinational medical devices client based in the Limerick area on an initial 12-month contract with the potential to extend.


Job Purpose
Areas of work in sustainability include:
* Sustainable manufacture and products.
* Sustainable utilities and facilities
* Certification to ISO 18001, ISO 14001, earthwards, etc.


Main Responsibilities of the role
You'll work closely with all sectors of the business to help them measure and then improve their sustainability performance. This could involve looking at:

  • Drive site compliance to the client's corporate sustainability goals
  • Carbon footprint modelling
  • Single use plastic in manufacturing
  • Product certification to sustainable bodies
  • Management of energy, water, air and land
  • Develop and drive programs to support behaviour change management associated with sustainability
  • How a building performs in terms of energy and resources - how much energy and resources are used for manufacture, and how this tie into a sustainable production model and product
  • Impact on local communities and eco-systems
  • Impact to end customers and consumers
  • Suppliers and procurement
  • Raw materials and the waste produced, including pollutants and noise
  • Sustainable construction and energy efficiency by design (EED) strategies
  • Compliance with environmental legislation.

Although tasks will vary depending on your area of work, you'll typically need to:

  • Carry out research and ecology surveys and use environmental impact assessments to measure issues such as carbon footprint, energy performance, air quality and noise pollution
  • Undertake assessments against European and SEAI guidance
  • Collect and analyse data, and present your findings
  • Manage projects and programs to drive the sustainable programs on site and for the wider sector
  • Provide advice to ensure compliance with regulations laid out in local and worldwide environmental law
  • Recommend technologies and explain the most cost-effective and beneficial routes to sustainability. This could involve switching to alternative energy sources to lower energy costs, smarter water usage, reducing waste and lowering carbon emissions
  • Keep up to date with current research and legislation via specialist publications, following relevant social media groups or by attending conferences
  • Manage projects which involve identifying potential vendors, preparing bid documents and managing resources and budgets to deadline

Desired Experience and Background of the successful candidate

  • Bachelor Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science OR equivalent through experience
  • Advanced course work in technical systems plus continued education in technical disciplines is preferred
  • Additional PMI certification is a plus
  • 7+ years' experience in similar role
  • High Energy, personable leadership style, enthusiastic motivator of people
  • Strong Project management and problem-solving skills which can be applied to the business process
  • Expertise in facilities, energy and sustainability
  • Frequent international communication and team work through conference calls
  • Strong tracking, coordination and project planning skills
  • Strong leadership skills and able to motivate teams is a must
  • Ability to identify and implement process and/or application improvements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to work on multiple simultaneous tasks with limited supervision
  • Quick learner, motivated self-starter
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication and team collaboration skills
  • Able to follow change management procedures and internal guidelines
