Project HSE Manager - Contract Opportunity.

This position will report directly to the Project Manager and is site-based. You will be responsible for advising and supporting management on all safety, health, environment and welfare matters to ensure the company and its contractors comply with statutory requirements and any associated company policies or procedures.

In addition, the incumbent will provide support to the Quality & EHS Manager in the development and implementation of the Company's Corporate Management Systems and their obligations towards Health, Safety and wellbeing of personnel.

Responsibilities

* Monitor processes to ensure the effective Implementation of the clients Q&EHS policy and procedures on the project

* Validating contractors HSE and Security compliance

* Interface with Project Managers and Principal Contractors on HSE matters

* Provide weekly site HSSE reports to the client Project Managers, and the Q&EHS Manager

* Undertake bi- monthly HSSE Performance Measurement Audits and issue of reports and corrective actions.

* Review and report on the compliance with any permits as may be required for ensuring HSSE controls.

* Attend Contractors HSE meetings and risk review meetings as defined in the project meeting schedule

* Provide training for health and safety as defined by the Q&EHS Manager and promote the clients safety culture amongst employees and contractors

* Ensuring that all "assessments" as required by legislation are conducted and reviewed at relevant intervals and maintain monitoring records

* Provide advice, guidance and information to the site project management team as required

* Ensure that all contractors, sub-contractors and other third parties comply with HSE policies and procedures

* Collate and report HSE statistics for contractors and provide weekly update to the Q&EHS Manager

* Actively promote a stop work policy in case of HSE non-compliances

* Attend the client Monthly HSE Management meeting, held alternating months between UK & France

* Assist or undertake incident investigations as requested by the Q&EHS Manager

* To portray a professional image at all times throughout the course of your duties

* Assist the Q&EHS Manager in development and implementation of the clients Q&EHS Integrated Management System

* Help the client ensure that Eurotunnel security processes are effectively implemented.

Minimum Standards & Selection Criteria

* Proven background within site based HSE for large rail/power/construction/ associated infrastructure projects from a contractor and client role

* Current detailed knowledge of HSE legislation and good site construction management practices

* Demonstrated ability to enforce HSE procedures and preparedness to stop work as required

* Membership of an appropriate HSE professional association or institute (e.g. International Institute of Risk and Safety Management - IIRSM, Institution of Occupational Safety and Health - IOSH or equivalent professional body)

* Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills

* Auditing skills and report development

* Flexible approach and willingness to complete tasks outside of normal role scope, as may be requested

* Be willing to work occasional night or weekends as may be required to support the project

* French Speaking preferable

* Working knowledge of Quality Management in construction would be an advantage

* NEBOSH National General Certificate (Ideally Diploma), or ability to demonstrate equivalent qualifications and experience.

* Working knowledge of French safety practices an advantage
