Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Production Technician based in Aberdeen

Principal Accountabilities
Continually monitor the status of all process and utility equipment, identifying process equipment failures and expediently reporting them. Operate as instructed designated process and utilities equipment. Carry out adjustments to plant and equipment to maximise efficiency and on stream reliability. Carry out limited and specific maintenance within the constraints of individual competency, experience and agreed scope of work.
Liaise with Maintenance Technicians (Electrical/Instrument/Mechanical/Telecoms) on the shutdown, isolation and restart of plant being maintained to ensure non availability of equipment is kept to a minimum.
Work safely maintaining a constant awareness of potential hazards. Utilise Risk Assessments to evaluate the risk and put appropriate controls in place. Actively participate in safety improvement plans and systems including Safety Conversations, Control of Work checks, Tier 1 audits etc. As required, participate in root cause analysis of problems.
As part of the platform PFM schedule, review and identify changes to operational procedures, maintenance practices or engineering design that will be of most value in improving safety and/or reliability, thereby reducing costs and/or increasing revenues.
Ensure that all work being performed within designated area is carried out safely and in line with the Permit to Work (PTW) and Safe Operating Philosophies. Perform duties of Area Authority for areas of the platform as designated in Platform Standing Orders. Be responsible for the mechanical isolation and de-isolation of plant and equipment to render it safe for permitted activities. Be competent to carry out flammable gas monitoring for PTW purposes. Comply with procedures associated with Breaking of Containment.
Reset and prepare all equipment and facilities for start-up following major platform shutdowns.
Be competent to carry out routine lab analysis work as required.
Input data or provide the necessary data to others to allow accurate, complete and up-to-date records of work requests (notifications), work history and hours expended to be maintained in SAP and other computer based systems as required. Maintain other records for plant and equipment as specified. Requisition as necessary such materials as are routinely required
Contribute towards ensuring that relevant production departmental performance metrics are achieved.
Maintain an awareness of budget and assist in control of costs within the Production Department.
Conduct handover with oncoming shift to ensure continuous safe operation of platform facilities. Complete a comprehensive shift log to include details of activities taken place during the shift. Such logs to include any changes to equipment and PTW status. Contribute to handover documentation.
Participate fully in emergency response teams to ensure a continued ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
Deputise for Production Team Leader (PTL) when necessary. This includes providing PTL cover for the 2:3 rota schedule 5th week.
Liaise directly with onshore engineers to resolve technical problems as required.

Qualifications & Skills & Experience required:
Successful attainment of Level 3 SVQ competence award in Processing Operations: Hydrocarbons, and, where appropriate, Maintenance competence standard.
Completion of all Brae Skill Management (BSM) elements associated with the role.
Successful completion of Permit to Work competency assessment as Authorised Person Mechanical, Area Authority and Authorised Gas Tester. Completion of Platform specific OJT manuals.
Process operating experience is required in the oil production, refining or petrochemical industries;
Or Engineering apprenticeship, preferably qualified to ONC, City and Guilds, Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) or BTEC (EDEXEL) standard followed by practical experience in the maintenance of equipment in the oil production, refining or petrochemicals industries.
