Key Responsibilities

  • You'll be in the driving seat! From using using pencil and paper to draft rapid lo-fi prototypes for new features or product improvements, you'll work independently to refine prototypes in your graphic editor of choice (we like Sketch) and present your ideas to the team
  • You'll be closely involved in the creative process - collaborating to generate new ideas for product improvements that will really benefit our customers and creating innovative solutions to help solve user problems and optimise their journey
  • You'll be really hands on with our technology - coding up functioning prototypes to test workflows with our users, working alongside the engineers to implement features in our Ruby on Rails codebase and pushing your own app updates using Git
  • You'll always be looking to drive the FreeAgent product forward - digging into behavioural data to understand how users are using our website and working collaboratively with other designers and colleagues across the business to deliver towards our company objectives

Skills and Experience

  • at least 3-4 years working either in an agency, as a successful freelancer or as an in-house designer
  • experience of designing user interfaces for complex applications, translating user requirements into elegant, usable solutions.
  • knowledge of best practices with regards to web standards, usability and accessibility.
  • strong visual and graphic design sense.
  • Knowledge of fundamental UX techniques including user testing, wireframing, prototyping, interaction flows, information architecture and more.
  • Enthusiasm for taking complex problems and simplifying them for end users.
  • good front end development experience including HTML, CSS and Javascript
  • willingness to work with engineers to implement new features within our application frameworks
  • strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written
  • respect for the opinions of others
