Are you a Process / Technical Safety Engineer looking for a new opportunity within Downstream Oil & Gas? Our Client, a major Operator, is looking for an individual to join their team based at a major refinery, in the south of England.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Develop unit & flare Safety Relief Reviews (SRRs), which is an engineering evaluation of the safety systems that keep our process facilities safe performed in support of capital project development or consulting for a manufacturing site
  • Consult & provide TQA (Total Quality Assurance) of site-performed SRR work, including those developed by 3rd parties - Propose cost-effective mitigation for SRR findings
  • Participate in Risk Assessments with Process Safety & Risk - Support sites in maintaining evergreen Unit & Flare Models SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS degree required or equivalent experience.

Specific Job Requirements/Skills:

Job Role Responsibility:

  • Perform pressure relief system analysis in support of project development
  • Deliver efficient and accurate Process Safety Pressure Protection Manager (PS PPM) studies and solutions
  • Assist sites with risk based decision making on the recommendations that result from the pressure relief studies Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Chemical Engineering or extensive relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in the oil, gas, or petrochemical industry
  • Previous experience performing contingency analysis with PS PPM
  • Previous academic and/or practical experience with flare modelling tools, such as, Pressure Protection Manager (PPM), Visual Flow / Visual Flare, and/or FlareNet
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and proven ability to influence other Preferred


  • Solid understanding of Process Design fundamentals with respect to safety, including, overpressure scenario identification and PSV sizing via API 520/521 methodology; pipe sizing and hydraulic calculations; pipe pressure and temperature rating; control valve sizing; and heat exchanger rating
  • Fundamental understanding of distillation tower, pump and compressor operation and performance
  • Previous practical experience with a steady state process simulation tool, such as PROII or HYSYS
  • Experience in Process Safety and Risk fundamentals including Risk Assessments and HAZOPS
  • Direct experience working at oil and gas operating site
