Process Safety Engineer (AZERI NATIONALS are encouraged to apply)

Our client is a fully state-owned national oil and gas company headquartered in Baku, Azerbaijan. The company produces oil and natural gas from onshore and offshore fields in the Azerbaijani segment of the Caspian Sea

Despite external challenges, the client is pressing ahead with a major upstream development project and is looking to hire experienced engineers.

Currently, they are looking for two PROCESS SAFETY ENGINEERS to join the team in Baku.

Responsibilities

  • Technically responsible for all process safety / technical safety scope.
  • Accountable for safety engineering standards and management of any deviations from standards.
  • Ensuring all project design follows the concept of inherent safety and the risk is ALARP (as low as reasonably practicable).
  • Ensure safety-critical equipment is identified and appropriate maintenance, inspection, and test plans are in place.
  • Provide assurance to the engineering authority that the management of change process is functioning correctly for modifications or other changes to the equipment systems within the discipline.
  • Ensure project scopes are well defined and suitable.
  • Act as Technical Authority for all safety engineering queries in detail design to ensure the contractor completes the project to operator standards.
  • ensure the integrity of all safety engineering whilst maintaining quality, cost control, and delivery to schedule.
  • Provide technical engineering oversight during the construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and handover.
  • Interface with operations and maintenance with responsibility for process safety budget allocation and schedule planning.
  • Responsible for the commercial aspects of projects and project management including the commercial reviews, cost control, scheduling and interface with the clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Oversee Management of Change process for design modifications and their implementation

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Degree in a related engineering discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status (preferred)
  • Experience in engineering design concept design / FEED, detailed design through to and including pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover on large offshore Greenfield projects
  • Demonstrable experience as a senior Engineer with responsibility for the commercial aspects and project management delivery including the commercial reviews, cost control, scheduling, and interface with the clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Experience of working for major EPC contractor or Operating Company
  • Some knowledge of onshore EPC projects would also be advantageous
