Orion Group are looking for a Process Engineer for our multinational pharmaceutical client based in the Cork area on an initial 24-month contract with the potential to extend.


Job Purpose:
As a key member of the Engineering Department, work closely with operations and quality personnel to gain a full understanding of the portfolio of the clients products and manufacturing equipment and to optimize both to ensure reliable supply from the site.

Main Responsibilities of the role:

  • Identifying continuous improvement opportunities and participating in cross functional teams
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives across the plant in areas of Quality, Safety, Cost and People
  • Development of solutions to particular production related problems from general operations to control systems, engineering restrictions, environmental issues, incorrect design and development of particular requirements
  • Effectively use the site business processes to support production e.g. change control, deviations, 6 sigma method investigations, etc.
  • Designs experiments and capability studies for existing process trains with the aim of improving efficiencies
  • Provide technical support for Capital engineering projects
  • Lead/participate in rigorous technical risk assessments for plant changes/product introduction
  • Provides support to the incident investigation for the EHS function
  • Executes process development/transfer activities utilizing DOE and other statistical processing engineering methodologies including resulting in sound scientific reports
  • Ensure all engineering changes made have safety and quality considerations as core attributes
  • Ensures comprehensive follow up and corrective/ preventive actions are in place for Quality and Safety deviations
  • Engineering SMEs to drive adoption and support projects for Standard Design platforms; train engineers on standards; work with WWETO to maintain and develop Standard Design Platforms
  • Engineering SMEs to support C&Q to drive deployment. Work with WWETO to provide training, maintain, update standards
  • Monitors the status of programs and project, provides technical interpretation and expertise, ensures adherence to policies, procedures, government regulations, and customer specifications
  • Provides technical leadership and supports execution of EHS&S policies and procedures
  • Ensures proper system integration by overseeing the development of the systems integration
    and systems assurance test plans and procedures; reviews test results
  • Coordinate with Technical Operations group to ensure alignment on technical standards and project execution for technical transfer projects/NPI
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars and trade shows, reviewing professional publications and analyzing new trends.
    Lead engineering execution of projects and initiatives in the platform, for strategic projects and across sites
  • Keeps senior management informed on project and program status by creating, maintaining, and presenting written reports on project and program status, tests, costs, issues, and performance against established targets on a regular basis

Desired Experience and Background of the successful candidate

  • Third level engineering qualification with experience in the Chemical/Pharmaceutical/Biochemical sector
  • 3-5 years+ experience
