Job description

We have a current opportunity for a 6 - 12 months contract Process Engineer to work in Food Products Processing - Solids Handling on a contract basis OUTSIDE of IR35.

The position will be based in Buckinghamshire.

This assignment will require specific experience with solids handling, and familiarity with Food Safety and Safe Design.

We welcome interest and applications from Process Engineers with the capability to deliver and coordinate technically complex process engineering design within proposals, studies, projects execution & operations, as part of a study and/or project team, in accordance with design & engineering standards & procedures, schedules and budget, and with a continuous concern for quality standards and customer satisfaction.

We would be very pleased to hear from high level engineers who can offer the following skills and expertise across a specific assignment:

Job scope:

A working knowledge of the food industry and solid handling projects is necessary, including background and expertise in:

Corn to ethanol projects in the food industry.

Solids handling.

Aspen plus knowledge for simulations- Aspen plus and Aspen Custom modeler.

Milling equipment design.

Slurry handling.

Analysis of project specifications, tender and proposals requirements, contributing to the development of design parameters and methodologies. Preparing technically correct, safe, environmentally friendly, cost & time effective discipline engineering assessment and solutions covering:

  • Design basis
  • Process description
  • PFD's and heat & material balance
  • MSD and material selection philosophy
  • Control scheme
  • Process and Utility P&ID's
  • Equipment & instrumentation Datasheet
  • Utilities and chemicals consumption summaries
  • Simulations and calculations

Providing support across all project activities, from engineering to start-up, as required.

Interfacing with other process engineering disciplines and design team(s).

Assisting in development of process knowledge databases for studies, projects and/or operations (capturing and reporting events & experiences within studies, projects & operations and writing of technical notes).

Project scope will require the following background and experience:

University chemical engineering degree.

Theoretical knowledge of process design methods and tools.

Experience in Oil & Gas Processing, Refining and/or Ethylene/ Petrochemicals, preferably with an engineering contractor.

Demonstrable working knowledge in food industry, safe design, and solid handling projects:

  • Corn to ethanol projects in the food industry.
  • Solids handling.
  • Aspen plus knowledge for simulations- Aspen plus and Aspen Custom modeler.
  • Milling equipment design.
  • Slurry handling.

Process simulation: Aspen plus and Aspen Custom modeler.

Engineering Work Processes: Interdisciplinary coordination, change management.

Industry Codes and Standards: Knowledge of API 520, 521, 526, 527, 2000, etc.

Project reporting: Progress and schedule reporting.
