Job description

Our client, a leading broad energy company, is seeking a Principal Electrical Systems Engineer on a permanent basis.

Our client is open to candidates that reside in the West Coast (i.e. California, Oregon, etc.); East Coast (Boston, MA; New York City, New York; etc.); and Houston/Austin, Texas.

Duties & Responsibilities

Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for commercial products with a strong focus on eBOS components
* Support the Systems Engineering team with Commercial customer issues and escalations
* Develop test plans as part of third party HW and SW component qualification
* Perform and review calculations and modelling related to conductor and equipment sizing, short-circuit and arc-flash analysis, protection, and overcurrent coordination, etc.
* Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to stay current on new and obsolete product road maps
* Support cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and compliance with national, local, and customer-specific requirement

Experience & Educational Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus in Power Systems, preferred and 6+ years of related experience (or equivalent)
* Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including the NEC/NFPA, the NESC, UL, and IEEE
* Ability to specify, draw and modify single line diagrams (SLDs)
* Familiarity with permitting and grid interconnection requirements for North America
* Excellent technical understanding of commercial grid-tied photovoltaic systems
* Deep knowledge of energy storage & PV inverters, monitoring, and communications
* Ability to size and specify switchgear, panel boards, transformers, meters, OCPDs, SPDs, cables, and conduits
* Ability to interface as a technical contact with utilities for interconnection approval
* Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with cross-functional groups of all levels and competencies
* Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
* Ability to lead and work in teams
* Willingness to travel as required
