This role provides a Computer Aided Design (CAD) service to our client and Technical Services Agreement (TSA) customers, both at a Concept and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) level and in detailed piping design, for aviation fuel storage and distribution facilities. The role requires the incumbent to create detailed aviation fuel hydrant designs and piping layouts using AutoCAD from project engineer instructions (sketches and general guidance) and Third Party supplied information, using the client's design standards. The role requires the individual to develop the initial instruction into a complete solution and therefore requires the individual to exercise detailed design intelligence.

Key Results/ Accountabilities expected from role

  • Creation/modification of design drawings and graphics for aviation fuelling facilities using AutoCAD in support of engineering and business development projects.
  • Design analysis using Vehicle Tracking software.
  • Creation of As Built Drawings, including data gathering by carrying out site surveys.
  • Creation of Hazardous Area Drawings to GEN 30 for Engineer approval.
  • Design of bespoke piping solutions (commensurate with experience).

Key challenges faced on the role

  • Ability to work to project deadlines whilst ensuring Design Office drawing standards and the clients reputation for drawing accuracy are maintained.
  • Understanding of aviation fuel storage, handling and distribution operations, especially the clients standard drawings and industry layout standards, creating designs that are constructible and safe to construct, with an eye to minimising construction costs.
  • Information exchange with Third Parties ensuring that the most up-to-date information is used and guiding them to present the information in a format that can be used most efficiently.

Experience & Expertise

Educational background:

  • Further education qualification in engineering or a related discipline (minimum HND).

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Fluent in English, oral as well as written.
  • AutoCAD Mastery.
  • Piping Design - extensive design and draughting experience in piping design in the petrochemical or similar industry, including experience in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
  • Site Layout Design.
  • Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines and objectives.
