Packing Operative (Dayshift)
Immediate start
Ongoing contract
Location - Perth
Rate £9.91 per hour rising to £10.96 per hour after 12 weeks

Our client a successful and expanding engineering manufacturing company is seeking to source 2 Packing Operatives for their busy dispatch area.

The successful candidate will need to satisfy Disclosure Scotland check.

The hours of work (37 hours/week) are rotational Dayshift week about:

Week 1
Monday: 08:00 - 16:30
Tuesday: 08:00 - 16:30
Wednesday: 08:00 - 16:00
Thursday: 08:00 - 16:00
Friday: 08:00 - 14:00

Week 2
Monday: 06:00 - 14:30
Tuesday: 06:00 - 14:30
Wednesday: 06:00 - 14:00
Thursday: 06:00 - 14:00
Friday: 06:00 - 12:00

The role is ensuring that the packaging of all products and associated accessories is completed on time and to a high standard to meet customers expectations.

This is achieved by working within the following areas of responsibility
* Carton packing
* Final packing
* Production support
* Health and safety
* Communication

Previous experience working within a packing, logistics, distribution or warehouse environment is desired.

Carton packing
* Review finished element order status and prioritise daily workload
* Carton packing SiC elements and accesories as per standard
operating procedures
* Report and allocate carton packed orders using M3 (MRP software)
* Control carton packaging material stock levels using Kanban systems

Final Packing
* Use M3 to pull information required to final pack orders
* Perform final packing of all elements to a safe and organised level
with a high standard of presentation
* Control final packaging material stock levels using Kanban systems
for standard materials or liaising with purchasing for bespoke
materials based on specific orders

Production support
* Perform stock takes as required on key items
* Perform 5S duties and tasks
* Engage in continuous improvement activities as and when required
* Review future order book and forward plan any additional materials
over and above standard stock levels
* Responsible for the training of junior members of staff on all packing
related tasks
* Loading and unloading lorries or shipping containers using fork lift
trucks (training given)
