Job description

Our Client is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Offshore Structural Engineer to join their team in Qatar on a long-term basis. As a key member of the Doha office, you will be responsible for delivering projects across study, FEED, EPC, and PMC scopes of work. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the success of various onshore and offshore oil and gas projects in both brownfield and greenfield environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analysis and design of steel and concrete structures according to international and company codes and standards.
  • Perform analysis and design of structure and equipment foundations considering static and dynamic loading.
  • Utilize engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, SACS, Matt 3D, etc., for analysis and design.
  • Prepare design-related documents, including Basis of Design, Material Specifications, Material take-offs, Scopes of Work, and Technical reports.
  • Coordinate and supervise interdisciplinary design activities.
  • Develop design calculations, sketches, and relevant information to support project designers.
  • Perform preliminary sizing for structural members and provide input to Structural 3D and 2D modeling.
  • Create structural computer models and conduct structural analyses for various operating, installation, transportation, loadout, and fabrication conditions.
  • Ensure structural compliance with specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Prepare structural engineering input for secondary and tertiary steel design.
  • Review client and vendor data for structural implications and requirements.
  • Collaborate with designers in the preparation of CAD drawings using various software tools.
  • Liaise with other disciplines to accommodate their requirements and incorporate them into structural and foundation drawings.
  • Provide technical support to team members.
  • Prioritize safety in design and office practices.
  • Undertake site visits, surveys, and related activities as required.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Enrolled on the Register of Engineers in the State of Qatar, Grade A Category (mandatory requirement).
  • Alternatively, candidates must be a Chartered Engineer if not enrolled on the Register.
  • Proven core Structural Engineering skills, preferably in the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Experience in a variety of projects and phases, including greenfield and brownfield, onshore and offshore, Pre-FEED through to EPC, with a focus on offshore upstream.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a strong drive for achievement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational awareness and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to influence and impact fellow workers.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to meet project objectives while responding to customer needs.
  • Analytical and innovative mindset to handle new technologies.

Additional Requirements:

  • Availability to work in Doha, Qatar
  • Demonstrable experience in recruitment within the discipline, including interviewing, candidate selection, and team building within small discipline teams.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely from technical leadership personnel, with functional leadership provided within the Doha office.
  • Experience in a small project office, supporting cross-discipline activities beyond core discipline.
