Job Title: Nuclear Safety Officer (£35,000 - £50,000)

Location: Bristol / Somerset (Site Based)

Background: This role offers an opportunity for an experienced Nuclear Safety officer to play a key role in the Project Management and delivery of a new nuclear build. The role will support the Building and Civil work of the Nuclear Island and other key elements of the main construction site. The Nuclear Compliance Officer will report to the Nuclear Compliance Manager.

Role and Responsibilities: * Ensure that arrangements are in place to monitor that activities taking place at the are being undertaken in compliance with the requirements of the Nuclear Site Licence (NSL), planning obligations, and lease restrictions and obligations * Helping to monitor delivery of scope to quality and programme and spend against the budget * Provision of written and verbal advice on compliance with the NSL, planning obligations and lease restrictions and obligations for HPC to the rest of the HPC Construction Team and delivery partners * Review and comment on contractors' schedules and management plans on behalf of the Site Nuclear Compliance team against the NSL, planning permission and lease obligations, to ensure continued compliance with our obligations * Undertake inspections of site activities to assess compliance position * Author compliance arrangements * Deliver compliance monitoring including production of a monthly compliance dashboard

Qualifications and Experience: * Engineering or Science degree * Minimum of 2 years' experience in an engineering environment * Demonstrable awareness of integrated management systems and the different policies, procedures, standards and documents applicable to the function and the role within Technical and Engineering functions * Ability to identify opportunities for improvements to procedures, processes and/or systems * Under broad supervision, plans effective implementation; identifying, tracking and managing the appropriate route to achieve critical tasks and deliverables * Good understanding of a number of core procedures / stages relevant to individual work area within the Technical and Engineering fields * Produces technical documents of good quality * Performs basic analysis of data within own area of expertise, highlighting and summarising issues arising * Experience of working on a large construction project preferably within the Nuclear Industry * Experience of working with external stakeholders such as regulators, the planning authorities and contract partners * Nuclear experience, working within a regulated, licenced environment
