We are looking for a Data Network Engineer to join the Operational Networking team to help support the UK wide data network which provides mission critical services to the client and commercial telecommunication customers.


The role will predominantly support the clients Nokia (formerly Alcatel) network consisting of 7750-SR1, 7750-SR7, 7750-SR12, 7210-SAX-X nodes and Nokia sra-8.
It will involve provisioning of customer circuits and fault finding of existing circuits.

Demonstrating excellent strong communication and time management skills,
you will combine a number of tasks such as fault finding network issues, working with network architects on future network designs and analysing and reporting network performance.

In order to do this successfully you must have a broad network exposure and experience of working with Nokia switches and SAM (Service Assurance Manager)

You will be flexible, committed and a self motivated team worker, with excellent organisational skills, including prioritising workloads.

You will be expected to work on your own initiative but also work well as part of a small team.

You will collaborate with network architects on network design and optimisation and you will liaise with project management teams to carry out network builds and deployment.

You should have experience of Nokia 7750-SR1, 7750-SR7, 7750-SR12, 7210-SAX-X nodes and Nokia sra-8, LAN/WAN and Nokia MPLS as well as Layer 2 protocols such as Ethernet, Spanning Tree, VLAN's and MPLS.
Experience in Layer 3 protocols such as - OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IP addressing/subnetting are also required.

Experience in layer 2 epipe configuration and troubleshooting ,layer 3 Internet Access and IP transit , linx peering , Infoblox DNS and Juniper switches and routers, troubleshooting and configuration of Label switch paths , BFD and BGP


Nokia NRS and Cisco qualifications would be an advantage but not essential.

Additionally knowledge of Cisco hardware and IOS would be an advantage.
