Job Title - Merchant Sector Sales Manager

This job description sets out the scope of the role of Merchant Sector Sales Manager at our Client, together with the main duties of the post at the date when it was completed. The post holder may also be required to carry out any other duties as required by their line manager.

1. Reporting to: Sales Director (UK)

2. Overview of the role:

As a member of the UK & Ireland sales management group, you will develop and implement a channel strategy, which delivers profitable and sustainable growth in line with agreed targets.

a) Geography: UK & Republic of Ireland

b) Customer focus: Merchant Sector. 2018 estimate worth as 41% of UK sales volume/ 48% of UK T/O

c) Leadership: Field Sales team -7

d) Team: Part of UK sales management group. Working hand in glove with Account Managers

e) Location: Flexible location

3. Essential functions:

Forecast and deliver growth within the sector, volume and value

Developing key growth sales strategies, tactics and action plans.

Responsible for directing and managing the day-to-day activities of the Merchant Sector sales function whilst maintaining focus on the company's strategic goals.

Building key relationships at the right level of seniority within the nominated customer sector

Take ownership and accountability for your area of the business

4. Key responsibilities include:

Sector volume & profit growth

Professionally managing the merchant sales team to achieve strategic & tactical objectives.

Identifying opportunities for profitable growth through;

* growth through our key customers base

* new customers

* new products

Developing sales strategies, setting appropriate targets, measuring & managing team to deliver.

Develop high level and highly effective relationships with existing and prospective customers to achieve the planned objectives.

Understanding customers changing needs & seek opportunities to meet those needs.

Negotiation and implementation of trading agreements for all sector accounts.

To oversee the recruitment and development of merchant sales team personnel.

Ownership of sector pricing, aligned with Sales Director and other Sector Managers.

5. Key skills and experience:

Strong leader

Highly motivated, enthusiastic, positive and goal oriented

Commercially astute

Excellent communicator and motivator at all levels

Experience in relationship building with a range of high value accounts

Successful record in previous roles demonstrating an ability to lead, direct and develop an effective sales team

Developed I.T skills

An understanding of forecasting and sales planning

High levels of numeracy and financial accuracy

Analytical and inquisitive, with excellent attention to detail.

Ability to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision and thrive both on own initiative and as part of a team.
